BBQ Contest Rules

1. Entries may only be cooked or prepared by person(s) listed on entry form.

2. Contestants must be present to win

3. Entries must be submitted before the official turn in times. Late entries will not be accepted.
    (In the event of an act of god entry times may be subject to change. Contestants will be given prior notice)

4. All entries are judged using a blind system of judging. Judges will be chosen at random from a judging bank.(Basically all wishing to judge will have there names placed in a hat and 5 will be drawn to judge)

5. Charcoal, wood, propane, and electricity may be used to prepare ribs, wildcard, and blue ribbon award.

6. All contestants must fill out an entry form in order to compete or contact Matt McMullen prior to the event


How Spare Ribs will be judged

We use a very similar judging to that of other large BBQ contests, such as Memphis in May.
On a Scale from 1 to 10 the following criteria will be judged

Appearance of Entry: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10

Tenderness of Entry:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10

Flavor of Entry:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10

Overall impression of Entry Write with decimal 0-10.00



2017 wild card Rule change!! Contestants may be present to verbally present and explain entry to judges before judges begin to eat. Max time is 60 seconds. Once presented contestants must leave area and not be present during sampling and judging.

Blue Ribbon Award (All Non BBQ themed dishes)

All invited are more than welcome to come Friday 23th to help setup and prepare for the event.

If you drink please make arrangements for sober drivers or stay the night at the vineyard.

This event is Family Friendly!

If you plan on staying Friday or Saturday Night. Please bring a tent and sleeping bags

Shower and toilet are available.

Lynn and I ask that each couple invited bring a dish to pass, or bring a needed item from the sign up page

All drink is bring your own, Bring a cooler and ice to keep your beverages cold.

Alcohol is permitted!!!!
