Replanting of the LaCresent Vines August 29-30, 2010

This page is a short explanation with pictures of me replanting the LaCresent grape vines. Long story short the originals I had ordered in the beginning part of the year did not take. I believe it was because of poor shipping. Luckily the Grape Nursery I purchased them from guaranteed healthy prosperous vines. So I received some replacement vines the last weekend in August they where nothing pretty but I they are better than the dead ones I had and they all had a really healthy root system. That was the most important ting to me. Below is a picture time line of what I did to replant them to ensure healthy growth.

One thing to note I have not tilled this row or weeded it since most of the vines where dead the 2 vines that where living however where tended to.

Here are some of the new vines the paper container that contained them is begingin to break down

In this picture all the weed that had grown up after the vines died where pulled out and grow tubed where set aside .

Here is a grow tube weeded

Grow tube removed you can see the dead vine.
Picture
Here is a dead vine the right side is where a root structure should be, but there is nothing.
Picture
A small hole is dug to acomidate the vine. The pole will support the grow tube.
Picture
The vine is placed in the hole as will soon be covered with loose soil.
Picture
Here the soil was placed around the vine then the vine was heavily watered and awaits the placement of the grow tube back on it.
Picture
Here the grow tube was replaced and a knee high ladies nylon placed on top to prevent Japanese beetles from getting in,but allows the vine air movement and water.

The complered row of replanted Lacresent. I will be tilling the row on the sides ASAP.
